How To Switch to a Whole-Foods, Plant Based Diet in 3 Easy Steps

Many people ask me where do I get my protein if I don’t eat meat. My answer is simple: whole foods. Everything that comes from nature. Fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, legumes, nuts, seeds. If my diet is balanced, I get enough protein.

So many studies have proven that whole foods plant based diet is the healthiest diet. Reducing risks for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic illnesses.

I found an interesting article that nicely explains what is whole-foods, plant based diet, here.

What I want you to take from today’s post is the three easy steps to switch to a healthier diet.

Step one – Decide. The first step in improving your diet is to decide you REALLY want to do this. Some do it for the animals, some do it to lose weight, so do to just become healthier and maybe eliminate some chronic illness they have been carrying for a while. You have to be dedicated. Decide you will embrace more of the abundance that mother nature has to offer, and give up the harmful, processed, unhealthy foods.

Step two – Act. Go to the grocery store and load up on fruits and veggies. Get some lentils, chickpeas, tofu. Whole grains, quinoa, green buckwheat, oats. Cut out the highly processes foods. If there are more than 4-5 ingredients on its list – skip it.

Step three – Explore. For some people it might be a big change. Some might not know what to do with all of these new ingredients, or how to incorporate more fruits and veggies in their diet. My advice to you is EXPLORE.  Be open. Google it. Read about it. Don’t be afraid to fail in the kitchen (happened to me so many times!). Check this out: 20 of the best vegan blogs.
